Grand Island Woman Wins Grand Prize in Holiday Getaway Giveaway

Summer LaBenz of Grand Island won a $10,000 travel gift card in the Nebraska Lottery Holiday Getaway Giveaway promotion.

On Friday, January 22, Nebraska Lottery representatives visited Grand Island to present LaBenz with her prize at the Pump & Pantry #44, 1309 Diers Ave., where she purchased the Scratch ticket she entered in the contest.

The Holiday Getaway Giveaway was a second-chance promotion offered by the Nebraska Lottery. Players were able to enter non-winning holiday Scratch tickets on the Lottery website, nelottery.com, for a chance to win $10,000, $5,000, or $2,500 travel gift cards.

While speaking with Nebraska Lottery officials in Grand Island, LaBenz said she only entered about 10 tickets in the drawing. There were 71,494 entries total.

“My kids want us to go to Disney World,” she said. “But we’re not in a hurry, we want to plan it well.” LaBenz said she will use her prize to bring her children, her mother, and her fiancé along on her trip.

The total value of the Grand Prize is $15,714.28, which includes the $10,000 gift card, $1,000 cash, and federal and state withholding taxes paid by the Nebraska Lottery.
