North Platte Woman Wins $25,000 Playing A Christmas Story

January 15, 2013 – Natasha Richards of North Platte won $25,000 playing the $3 Scratch game A Christmas Story from the Nebraska Lottery.

Richards purchased her winning A Christmas Story ticket at Casey’s General Store, 520 Rodeo Road in North Platte. Scratching the ticket, she revealed matching numbers with a corresponding prize of $25,000.

There are three $25,000 top prizes available in A Christmas Story. Richards is the second person to claim a top prize to date.

While claiming her prize on December 28, 2012, Richards told Nebraska Lottery officials that she won her prize on Christmas Day. “I had just watched ‘A Christmas Story,’ so I bought a ticket,” said Richards. She plans to pay bills using her winnings.

Based on the classic holiday movie, the $3 A Christmas Story game gives players the chance to win $680,400 in cash prizes from $3 to $25,000. The odds of winning the $25,000 top prize in A Christmas Story are 1 in 120,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.32.
