Nebraska Lottery May Update

NEBRASKA LOTTERY EQUIPMENT UPGRADES COMING SOON

This summer, the Nebraska Lottery will be upgrading equipment at over 1,150 retailers. These upgrades will provide multiple benefits for lottery retailers and players.

The centerpiece of the conversion is the new Altura GT1200 lottery terminal provided by GTECH Corporation. The Altura is state-of-the-art technology, making it faster both for the clerk in selecting transactions and printing Lotto tickets. Each terminal will be connected via secure satellite or 3G wireless links to the central processing system.

Scratch tickets with this logo can be scanned in the new Check-A-Ticket device. The next edition of $1 Quick 7's, launching in July, will be the first Scratch game compatible with the new Check-A-Ticket device.

One of the new features that customers will notice is a 17-inch multimedia display that provides customer transaction details, jackpots amounts, and other lottery information. Additionally, a new Check-A-Ticket® device will allow players to identify winning Lotto and Scratch tickets before presenting them for payment.

Nebraska Lottery Director Jim Haynes stated that the equipment upgrades will allow the Lottery to provide a new level of service to players. "The lottery industry is driven by technology, and we're very excited to use a system that takes advantage of the latest innovations," said Haynes. "With our new terminal system, we will continue to provide the Scratch and Lotto games our customers expect. The new system also gives us many options for future products that we think will resonate with our players."

Installation of the new terminals has begun, and retailers will have both old and new terminals at their stores until the new system is activated on June 26. The terminal rollout has been designed to minimize service downtime, so players should be able to purchase their favorite Nebraska Lottery games like Powerball® and Nebraska Pick 5® without interruption.

TRUCK$ & BUCK$

Returning to stores this summer is the 16th edition of the $2 Truck$ & Buck$ Scratch game.

Truck$ & Buck$ features the 2011 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 SuperCrew Flex Fuel truck as its top prize. Players have the opportunity to win one of three Ford F-150 trucks as well as $782,000 in cash and Ethanol-enriched fuel prizes. The truck prize is valued at $50,000, which includes $1,620 for costs associated with ownership and state and federal withholding paid by the Nebraska Lottery of $2,500 and $12,500, respectively.

During the months of May, June, July, and August, players who send in $10 worth of non-winning $2 Scratch tickets will be entered in the Truck$ & Buck$ Second-Chance Giveaway for a chance to win a 2011 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 SuperCrew Flex Fuel truck. Entries may be submitted via the Nebraska Lottery website, nelottery.com, or by mail. Three preliminary drawings will be held to select a total of 15 semifinalists, who will compete for cash prizes and the Ford F-150 truck at the Grand Prize drawing event on Sunday, August 28, 2011, at the Nebraska State Fair. The first preliminary drawing will be held on Wednesday, June 2.

SPRING SCRATCH GAME SURVEY CONTEST

The Nebraska Lottery truly appreciates the opinions of our players. That's why MVP Club members can win cold hard cash just for completing a short web survey.

Players participating in the survey will view $5 Scratch game attributes. They will be asked to provide their opinion on various attributes related to the $5 Scratch products. Information and opinions offered will help create new Scratch games for our players.

Nebraska Lottery MVP Club members will receive one contest entry for completing a survey at www.nelottery.com before the deadline on June 8, 2011. A drawing will be held by the Nebraska Lottery on Thursday, June 9, 2011, to select winners. One first prize winner will receive $1,000 cash. Second prize is $500 and third prize is $250 cash.

Every MVP Club member may enter the contest once.
