Nebraska Lottery November Update

NEW HOLIDAY SCRATCH GAMES

This winter, the Nebraska Lottery is offering a new lineup of holiday-themed $1, $2, and $3 Scratch games perfect for holiday gift giving.

At the $1 price point is Stocking Stuffer. This quick-play game features five different ticket scenes and a write-in area for the names of the giver and recipient, making it perfect for gift giving.

The M&M'S® characters are back for a second year with the $2 Tree Trimmin' Tripler game. The ticket artwork features the Blue M&M'S® character, and the game offers a merry top prize of $10,000.

New for 2011 at the $3 price point is Sugar Cookies, which features a Match 3 play style and mouth-watering artwork of holiday cookies. Scan the QR code on the back of your Sugar Cookies ticket with your smartphone or go to nelottery.com/sugarcookies to design your own sugar cookie greeting and send it to a friend.

All three Scratch games are available for a limited time during the holiday season, and are perfect as stocking stuffers, gifts for co-workers, or something fun for the person who already has everything. Envelopes for giving Nebraska Lottery tickets are available at Nebraska Lottery retailers or online at nelottery.com for members of the Nebraska Lottery MVP Club.

HUSKER CRUISE GIVEAWAY

Get away to the Bahamas this winter with the Husker Cruise Giveaway!

Traditionally, Nebraska Lottery holiday games are paired with a second-chance contest for non-winning tickets. This year, we are offering a special Lotto promotion in lieu of our holiday game promotion.

Between November 27 and December 25, 2011, purchase a $5 Nebraska Pick 5 Lotto ticket and receive a trailer entry voucher to mail in to the Nebraska Lottery for a chance to win one of three trips on the inaugural Husker Cruise. Completed entries must be received by Thursday, December 29, 2011.

There will be one drawing held on Friday, December 30, 2011, in this giveaway to select three prizewinners. Each winner will receive the following:

• Roundtrip airfare for four to Miami, Florida, departing on February 23, 2012, and returning on February 27, 2012 (depending on scheduling);*
• Airport and hotel transfers;*
• Two hotel rooms, double occupancy, in Miami, Florida, for February 23, 2012;*
• Trip for four on the inaugural Husker Cruise, sailing February 24-27, 2012, which includes two ocean-view staterooms, double occupancy. Cruise sails from Miami, Florida, to CoCo Cay, Nassau, and back to port in Miami;
• Opportunity to receive autographed photos of notable Husker athletes and personalities;
• Reserved on-ship concert and show seating for four; and
• $1,000 cash.

BLACK FRIDAY MYDAY NTH TICKET PROMOTION

When you're out on Black Friday, don't forget about shopping for your favorite lottery games! Buy a MyDaY ticket on November 25, and you could have the chance to win a free MyDaY ticket in the one-day Black Friday MyDaY Nth Ticket promotion.

A trailer ticket will be produced on every 9th, 99th and 990th MyDaY purchase across the state on Friday, November 25. The lottery terminal will sound and a trailer ticket will print following the purchased ticket each time the Nth purchase is triggered.

• Every 9th ticket will create one free MyDaY play good for the November 25 draw;
• Every 99th ticket will create one free MyDaY play, good for the November 25 – December 1 draws (6 total);
• Every 990th ticket will create one free MyDaY play, good for the November 25 – December 24 draws (26 total).

The total cost, or amount of plays of the MyDaY purchase, does not determine the Nth ticket trigger – this is based solely on the number of MyDaY transactions across Nebraska. Every 99th ticket will only trigger the 99th ticket prize, and will not trigger the 9th ticket prize. Additionally, every 990th ticket will only trigger the 990th ticket prize, and will not also trigger the 9th or 99th ticket prizes. The promotion will end at 9:00 p.m. (C.T.) on November 25.

POWERBALL MULTI-DRAWS REDUCED FOR UPCOMING GAME CHANGES

To prepare for the upcoming changes to the Powerball game in January 2012, the Nebraska Lottery is temporarily reducing the amount of drawings that can be purchased on a ticket.

With the upcoming changes to the Powerball game, the maximum number of Powerball multi-draws that can be purchased on a ticket will be reduced with each successive drawing. Once the final drawing (January 14, 2012) under the game's current matrix has taken place, it will again be possible to purchase multi-draw tickets for up to 24 consecutive drawings.

The Multi-State Lottery Association, operator of Powerball, the world’s best known jackpot lottery game, announced in June that improvements to the game would be made in January 2012.

Changes to Powerball will coincide with the 20th year of the multi-state game. Jackpots will start at $40 million, which is double the current $20 million starting jackpot. In addition to increasing the size of the starting jackpot, Powerball officials aim to make it easier to win other prizes. The white ball side will remain at 59, while the red ball side will fall from 39 to 35. The ticket price will change to $2 per play.

This is the sixth redesign for the best-known multi-state jackpot game since it was created in 1992.  The last change was in January 2009.
