Valparaiso Man Wins $30,000 Playing Fun 5s

Lawrence Masek of Valparaiso won $30,000 playing the $5 Scratch game Fun 5s from the Nebraska Lottery.

Masek purchased his winning Fun 5s ticket at Tvrdy’s One Stop, 100 Cedar Street in Valparaiso. Scratching the ticket, he revealed three “BILL” symbols in Game 3 for a corresponding prize of $30,000.

There are three $30,000 top prizes available in Fun 5s. Masek is the second person to claim a top prize to date.

While claiming his prize on August 18, Masek told Nebraska Lottery officials that he was “surprised” to win the top prize. “I showed the ticket to my wife, and I said, ‘I don’t think this is true,’” said Masek. He had no definite plans for his winnings at the time.

Fun 5s is a $5 Scratch game from the Nebraska Lottery that offers players the chance to win $1.2 million in cash prizes from $5 to $30,000. The odds of winning the top prize in Fun 5s are 1 in 120,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.60.
