$86,000 Nebraska Pick 5 Jackpot for Omaha Woman

Nebraska Pick 5Linda Heffernan of Omaha recently won $86,000 playing Nebraska Pick 5 from the Nebraska Lottery.

There were more than 12,500 Nebraska Lottery winners in the Friday, June 6, drawings. Among these winners was Heffernan, who received a free Pick 5 ticket when cashing in another ticket at the Nebraska Lottery event trailer during the Omaha Summer Arts Festival. The ticket contained all five of the winning numbers (2, 18, 28, 30, 37) from the June 6 drawing for the $86,000 jackpot.

Three hundred and eleven Nebraska Lottery players have won the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot to date.

While claiming her prize on June 9, Heffernan told Nebraska Lottery officials that she learned she had won seeing the winning numbers on a local television newscast. At first, she couldn’t believe she had won the $58,000 jackpot. “I looked at them three or four times, and I thought, ‘This can’t be right,’” said Heffernan. She plans to pay bills purchase a new vehicle using her winnings. “I’d really like to buy a ’57 Chevy and drive it along Route 66,” said Heffernan.

The odds of winning the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot, which starts at $50,000 and grows by $4,000 each drawing that it is not won, are 1 in 501,942. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game, which has drawings six nights a week, are 1 in 8.
