Litchfield Man Receives $35,000 Winning Peppermint Payout Ticket as Gift

January 18, 2013 – Albert Klemke of Litchfield won $35,000 playing the $5 Scratch game Peppermint Payout from the Nebraska Lottery.

Klemke received his winning Peppermint Payout ticket as a holiday gift. The ticket was purchased at Pump & Pantry, 276 Mears Street in Chadron. Scratching the ticket, Klemke revealed matching numbers in continuous line with a corresponding prize of $35,000.

There were three $35,000 top prizes available in Peppermint Payout. Klemke was the third person to claim a top prize to date.

While claiming his prize on January 3, Klemke told Nebraska Lottery officials that he didn’t believe he had won at first. “I thought it was a fake ticket,” said Klemke. “I looked at it pretty hard before I realized it was real.” He plans to complete some home improvements using his winnings.

Peppermint Payout was a $5 holiday Scratch game that offered players the chance to win $898,695 in cash prizes from $5 to $35,000. The odds of winning the top prize playing Peppermint Payout were 1 in 90,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize were 1 in 3.26.
