Marcella Stoller October 23, 2012 – Guy and Marcella Stoller of Omaha recently won $1 million playing Nebraska Powerball.

Guy Stoller purchased the winning Powerball ticket at Bag 'N Save, 2650 North 90th Street in Omaha. The quick pick ticket contained one play with all five of the winning white ball numbers (4, 21, 28, 31, 44) from the October 20 drawing for $1 million.

This is the third million dollar winning ticket sold in Nebraska since Powerball was upgraded on January 15, 2012. Previously, the amount won for matching only the first five numbers was $200,000.

The Stollers wasted no time claiming their prize, arriving at Nebraska Lottery headquarters on the Monday after the drawing. Marcella Stoller told Nebraska Lottery officials that her husband decided to purchase a ticket for her as a surprise. “He bought me flowers and a Powerball ticket just for fun,” she said. The couple learned they had won after seeing the winning Powerball numbers during the WOWT Channel 6 newscast. They have no definite plans for their prize, but said part of the money might be used to pay for their grandchildren’s education. Marcella added that she saw one advantage to winning: “I guess now if I’m shopping for clothes, I don’t have to wait for a sale.”

The odds of winning $1 million playing Powerball are 1 in 5,153,633, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 31.85.
