May 30, 2012 – Daniel and Lisa Ensrud of Scottsbluff won $50,000 playing the $5 Scratch game Ultimate Crossword from the Nebraska Lottery.
Lisa Ensrud purchased the couple’s winning ticket at Git ‘N Split, 506 West 27th Street in Scottsbluff. The ticket contained 10 complete words in the crossword puzzle for a corresponding prize of $50,000.
There are three $50,000 top prizes available in Ultimate Crossword. The Ensruds are the second players to claim a top prize to date.
While claiming their prize on May 25, the couple told Nebraska Lottery officials that they were “shocked” to realize they had won the $50,000 top prize. “We kept counting the words,” said Daniel Ensrud. The Ensruds have no plans for their prize at this time.
Ultimate Crossword is a $5 Scratch game from the Nebraska Lottery that offers players the chance to win $1.6 million in cash prizes from $5 to $50,000. The odds of winning the $50,000 top prize are 1 in 160,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.32.
