Truck Roars to Life for Tundra Giveaway Winner
September 3, 2008 – In front of a large crowd of fairgoers, 15 semi-finalists in the Truck$ & Buck$ Second Chance Tundra Giveaway gathered on August 31 at the Nebraska State Fair to find out who would drive away with a 2008 Toyota Tundra 4x4 Double Cab truck.
After a series of elimination rounds, two finalists remained in the giveaway drawing. William Nicholson of Hastings and a proxy representing Neil Thorson of Ashland took turns selecting keys from a covered container. Only one of six keys in the container would start the Toyota Tundra. Mike Elwood, the proxy for finalist Thorson, made the first attempt to start the truck, but the truck remained silent. Nicholson then made the next attempt to start the truck. With a roar the Tundra started, surprising both the crowd and the truck’s new owner.
The Truck$ & Buck$ Second Chance Tundra Giveaway allowed players to send in ten dollars worth of non-winning $2 Scratch tickets for the chance to win a Toyota Tundra 4x4 Double Cab truck. Three preliminary drawings were held in July and August to select 15 semi-finalists who will compete in the final Truck$ & Buck$ Second Chance Tundra Giveaway Grand Prize contest on Sunday, August 31, 2008.
